Integrated Dual Clutch Design (I-DCD) uses on most of the Honda Hybrid Model requires Proper Care
Your Honda uses an Integrated Dual Clutch Design from LUK Germany, which makes the car more responsive and fun to drive.
However, this I-DCD design requires proper care & maintenance especially for the dual clutch system and the transmission to avoid costly repairs.
Dual Clutch Actuator fluid flush and change @ every 20,000 to 25,000 km
Due to the clutch actuator hydraulic circuit working doubly hard for the driver, (one for the hydraulic circuit on the odd gear and the other on the even gear).
The clutch actuator working continuously on the dual clutch to effect gear change, requires both hydraulic circuit to work hard all the time.(see the diagram above) With our local climate & driving conditions, it is best to change the fluid at these intervals.
In addition, there are also moisture & heat build-up in the transmission. Most clutches (I-DCD) failure was due to the internal hydraulic seal leaking and causing clutch to wear out sooner, in turn causing the hybrid motor to stop working.
Transmission fluid DW-1 @ every 30,000 to 35,000 km
Best to replace at recommended intervals due to temperature build-up in transmission and heat transfer from the dual-clutch assembly in stop-start heavy traffic. e.g. in causeway type of traffic condition. The heat build up in the transmission will activate the sensor and stop your vehicle from working; it only allows you to restart when your transmission is sufficiently cool down.
